Ginger Crinkles

Recipe Ingredients:

1cupbutter or margarine, softened
1 1/2cupgranulated sugar
2Tbspdark corn syrup
1/2cupmild molasses
3cupall purpose flour
2tspground cinnamon
1tspground ginger
1/4tspground cloves
1/4cupgranulated sugar (for coating)

Recipe Instructions:

1.   Preheat oven to 375F (190C). Beat first 5 ingredients in a bowl on low speed until smooth. Scrape batter off beaters using a rubber spatula.
2.   Add the flour, cinnamon, ginger, cloves and salt; stir with a spoon until moistened. Roll into 1-1/2 inch (3.5 cm) balls.
3.   Put the remaining sugar into a small bowl. Roll the balls one at a time in the sugar to coat them. Arrange the balls on ungreased cookie sheets 2 inches (5 cm) apart.
4.   Bake on center rack in oven for 12 to 14 minutes. Remove the cookie sheet to a wire rack. Let stand 2 minutes before removing the cookies to waxed paper lined on the counter. Cool completely. Makes 3-1/2 dozen.
