Cherry Crowns

Recipe Ingredients:

1cupbutter or margarine, softened
1pkg(3oz) cream cheese, softened
1largeegg, separated
1tspalmond extract
2 1/2cupall purpose flour
1cupfinely ground blanched almonds
30red candied cherry halves

Recipe Instructions:

1.   Beat butter and cream cheese at medium speed with an electric mixer, until creamy. Gradually add sugar beating well. Add egg yolk and almond extract, mixing well. Gradually stir in flour. Cover and chill 1 hour.
2.   Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Roll balls in lightly beaten egg white, and then in almonds. Place 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheets. Press a cherry half in center of each ball. Bake at 350F for 15 minutes. Remove to wire racks to cool. Makes 5 dozen.
